About Us
Inspired by the sights, smells and sounds of our Pembrokeshire Coast. Infused with gorse, vanilla and coconut then a touch of spice that leaves a warm but sweet taste which could be described as a vanilla flavoured cola cube.
Best served on the rocks.... or the beach.
Where has the name Hammerhead Spiced come from?
Well there are two stories, and both are true.
The first is coined from one of my favourite stories about my late Grandfather, known as Bampy Nob. Nobby was a keen drinker back in the day so when people would go on holiday, he would ask them to bring him a different bottle of spirit home. He would have parties where he would be pouring out all these different "exotic" spirits, half filling pint glasses and then mixing them with squash or milk and no one having any idea if that was the correct way to drink it.
But if he thought someone was acting out a bit, he would "put the hammer down." Meaning he would give them at least twice as much alcohol per drink compared to anyone else so that they either took themselves home drunk, or fell asleep haha!
When compared to my other Grandfather, Bampy Dave, who was a J.P, his version of putting the hammer down on someone was very different and makes the story even funnier. Both have influenced me; as well as rum being known as a Caribbean spirit and Pembrokeshire having a coastal national park - I wanted a nod to the sea - so what cooler animal than a Hammerhead shark?!
The Second story -
My wife calls me a sideways shark because of my long shaped head and face. What she was hilariously trying to describe was that I had a head like a hammerhead shark swimming on its side!
Either way the more I think about how the name come together, the more it makes me think about the people closest to me.
Hopefully when you next have a glass of Hammerhead Spiced, you do too.
